Travel Tip: Apps That Can Help You Keep Track of Receipts

receiptsIt’s always a good idea to keep track of receipts, even when you’re traveling for leisure, not business. But those little pieces of paper can be a nuisance, so here are some alternatives.

One of the easiest solutions is to scan the receipts with your smartphone.

With an app called Shoeboxed, you can photograph and categorize receipts, and the app even exports the information to your budgeting software, like Excel or Quickbooks.

You can also use your smartphone camera to photograph receipts and then store those images in the cloud. A free account with Dropbox can be accessed almost anywhere and you can create a password to protect your information.

If you use Evernote, which is basically a digital workspace software, it allows you to scan and store receipts in one place.

Or you can always go the old-fashioned route, but that doesn’t mean stuffing papers in your wallet to deal with later.

Put them in envelopes separated and labeled for each day and you’ll be that much more organized when you get home.
