Travel Tip: Quirky Hotel Perks for Your Dog

buttonsIt used to be that a pet-friendly hotel meant nothing more than a smoking room in the back of the building. But things are changing. Now you can actually find hotel perks for your dog.

At Loews hotels, there is a program called Loews Loves Pets. That means every dog or cat gets a welcome gift upon check in, and the hotel will loan its guests items like a pet bed and litter box.

There is even a whole room service menu for pets.

The Benjamin Hotel in New York partnered with Bark Box to give guests a box full of amenities and treats. Inside the room, there’s also a pet minibar…including something called Bowser Beer. You can’t make this stuff up.

Others, including several Fairmont properties, have a “canine concierge,” or a resident dog who greets and hangs out with guests.

But this one you have to see to believe: Aloft Hotel in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, actually brings rescue dogs from a local shelter into the property.

You can spend time with these dogs in and around the hotel. Of course, you know what will happen if you do. One of them is coming home with you.
