Destinations roll out deals to attract business during the slow season. If you go at the right time, you can still get great weather.
The whole city of San Diego goes on sale in October when hotels, restaurants, and attractions let in kids 12 and under for free. Even Amtrak is offering free rides for kids on one of my favorite routes, the Pacific Surfliner from Los Angeles.
The entire island of Jamaica has a fall sale until December, where hotels and attractions discount as much as 50 percent.
Autumn is fall foliage season in Colorado, and that’s where smart travelers go before the ski resorts open.
Crested Butte is offering 20 percent off lodging from September to October, plus free lift rides on weekends.
The Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs has a really cool package: Between now and the end of October, you get 30 percent off if you fly there on Alaska Airlines.
