The Canadian Rocky Mountains

Believe it or not, you can still ski right now. But, when skiing is over, the crowds will disappear and you’ll own the whole mountain…at a great rate. Spring is the perfect time for the best value packages in the Bow Valley. The Glacier Adventure and Glacier Skywalk are located at the Columbia Icefield on the Icefields Parkway, an incredible route connecting Banff and Jasper. The Parkway was recently voted one of Nat Geo Traveler’s 50 Places of a Lifetime, and you can spend at least a day exploring the numerous lakes, forests, and waterfalls along the way for free. Clipper vacations is offering a four day, three night night package in Jasper National Park for $618 per person until April 30.

If you’d rather park hop, you can purchase the Ultimate Explorer pass, which provides tickets to the four premier attractions in the Rockies for $109.95. This includes the Banff Gondola, the Banff Lake Cruise, the Glacier Adventure, and the brand new Glacier Skywalk. More info is available at explorerockies.com.

Getting There: Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver all have international airports that are serviced by major national and international carriers. For an alternative and very cool way to get there, check out Via Rail. Via Rail has regular train service to Jasper, via Edmonton and Vancouver. Both Vancouver and Edmonton have regular Greyhound bus service to Jasper. Brewster Transportation and Tours offers tour buses to and from Jasper via Banff along the spectacular Icefields Parkway.
