Gaslight and Gas Lamps of Berlin, Germany  

Berlin first introduced its now-historic gas lamps in 1826. Today, there about 43,500 lamps remaining on the streets. However, the cost of maintaining these structures now outweighs their historic charm. The government has decided to reduce the amount of gas lamps on the streets and more than 1,000 others will be taken down in the next year.
