In October 2011, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) first announced its PreCheck program, which initially launched in just seven airports. Since then millions of passengers have used the system and passed through security 2.5 times faster than the average passenger. PreCheck passengers are able to keep their laptop in the case and do not have to remove belts or shoes.

In addition you can now, apply for TSA PreCheck. Though, it might be more efficient to apply for Global Entry.

On September 4, 2013, the TSA announced that it will further expand PreCheck to 60 new airports, with plans to be in 100 airports by the end of the year.
