The World’s Best Business Class and First Class Service
Flying Kosmo on Korean Air
The flag carrier for South Korea, Korean Air has an ambitious first-class service, aptly named “Kosmo Suites,” for VIP passengers. The clever wood finish design of each of these suites (12 are available on the A380 superjumbo and 8 on the 777’s) complements the signature sky blue colored seats beautifully and creates an ambience of tranquility and calm. The seats, stretching at the touch of a button to one of the largest on any commercial airline—to a whopping 79-in long, 26.5 in wide flatbeds, with 83 inches of seat pitch—guarantees ultimate comfort in the skies. You’ll get your own clothing and slippers during the flight, too. You’ll feel as though you’re in an individual movie theatre, cocooned as you are in a fully-enclosed private space, where no one can see you, really, not even what you’re watching on the 23-inch wide-screen LCD monitor at the foot of your bed. If you have work to get done—as the frequent business travelers on Korean Air usually do—the Kosmo Suite’s Sky Office—an individual table, reading lamp, and an in-flight seat power supply—gives you ample office space to be productive. All in all, the smooth design of these suites redefines “cool” in flight. First class seats are also available, apart from those in the Kosmo suites, as are Prestige Class seats, in lieu of Business Class ones. As with Air New Zealand, these seats convert to a fully flat bed, offering passengers the first-class level of comfort in a business class environment.
As far as meals go on flight, they’re pretty standard. Still, Korean Air offers special meals for passengers with specific dietary or religion issues, as long as you order at least 24 hours prior to departure. And, for the frequent shopper, Korean Air’s in-flight shopping option will make sure you splurge on a variety of items, from classic fragrances to world famous liquors. If you’re on the A380 and feel like stretching your legs, make your way to the upper deck, where a flight attendant at the Celestial Bar & Lounge can make you your favorite cocktail.
