Hotel News You Can Use: New Year’s Eve & Holiday Edition

The holiday season is upon us, and even if you’re out on the road this year, there are flurry of new deals and events for the holiday traveler. This month for our Hotel News You Can Use column, we’re sharing the holiday and New Year’s Eve activities and events being planned at hotels from Aspen to Alberta to Saint Martin. Plus, we have our usual round-up of openings, renovations and other fun things.

Hotels Spreading Holiday Cheer

St. Regis, Aspen, Colorado – Starting Friday, December 14, The St. Regis in Aspen will be hosting a “12 Days of Christmas Holiday Countdown” with a different event each afternoon open to both guests and the public, culminating with a Christmas Day Brunch which features chef attended omelet, risotto, and chilled seafood stations as well as hand crafted Bloody Mary’s and specialty coffee’s for the adults and mac & cheese, fresh baked pizza, and a sundae station for the kids.  Tickets for the brunch are $95 per adult; $39 per child.

Hotel La Ferme, Baie-St. Paul, Canada – Up in the Great White North, the Hotel La Ferme will be holding Christmas events that include cupcake and gingerbread decorating workshops, classic Christmas movie screenings, skating rink, spa experiences, and a New Year’s Eve party featuring DJ Dee.  Tickets for the New Year’s Eve party are $25 per person and include a glass of champagne.

Brown Palace Hotel & Spa, Denver, Colorado – For those with kids in the Denver area, every Saturday leading up until Christmas Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be hosting a family breakfast buffet immediately followed by afternoon tea, storytelling, and collection of wish lists at the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa.

Moonlight Basin Resort, Big Sky, Montana – Why stay up late waiting for a chance to see Santa when you can just meet him later on the slopes?  On Christmas Day you’ll be able to find Santa relaxing on the slopes of Moonlight Basin Resort after a long night of dropping off presents.  Kids 10 and under ski for free when staying at the resort.

Omni Parker House, Boston, Massachusetts – Dickens’ fans will be happy to hear that the Omni Parker House will be hosting a performance of “A Christmas Carol” by Al LePage for the third consecutive year on Sunday, December 16.  They are also offering a package which includes overnight accommodations, two tickets to “A Christmas Carol”, and breakfast for two.  Rates begin at $189.

THE OUT, New York, New York – THE OUT is going all out to help you get into the holiday spirit with their Winter Wonderland event.  Starting December 20, the experience includes an outdoor ice rink, made to order cocktails, and a snow machine to ensure there is always freshly fallen snow across the resort, which will be decorated with a North Pole theme.  There will be snow angle and snow man contests, ice sculptures, and even hot tubs to warm you back up after a day out.

Hotel del Coronado, San Diego, California – Ice skating is probably not the first thing to come to mind when considering a day at the beach, but during the Hotel del Coronado’s eighth anniversary of Skating by the Sea, you can’t miss it.  The hotel is offering their “Del Holiday Experience” which includes two 50-minute “pumpkin spice” massages, two ice skating passes, a commemorative holiday ornament, and s’mores on the beach for two.  The package is $300 and available through January 5, 2013.

La Costa Resort and Spa, Carlsbad, California – Looking for a great holiday getaway where you can take the kids?  La Costa Resort and Spa’s “Holiday Experience” package is perfect for family fun, and includes holiday hayrides, Stuff n’ Fluff teddy bear workshops, storytelling with Mrs. Claus, elf stocking deliveries, family scavenger hunts, and more.  The package starts at $346 per night.
