Camels to Skyscrapers: New Travels in Doha, Qatar

Qatar is the wealthiest country per capita in the Middle East and Doha is the capital for business, which means continuous development, especially for Qatar travel. The city is attracting international designers, celebrity chefs and global hotel brands. Right now in Doha, the St. Regis, is featuring Gordon Ramsey and Jazz at Lincoln Center. The arts are evolving too–the 100 year-old Souk Waqif is getting a make over and the Museum of Islamic Art is housed in a building design by I.M. Pei.

In the next few years, 985 acres of reclaimed land called “The Pearl” will be transformed into over 41,000 international residents, upscale shops, restaurants and three marinas. In 2013, the city will also have a new multi-billion dollar international airport to match the expanding Qatar Airway.
