5. Salmon River Gorge, Oregon

The water may look calm here but don’t confuse Oregon’s Salmon River Gorge with Idaho’s Salmon River. Known as the “Mount Everest of Oregon” kayacking. This river has real wilderness territory plunging into a steep canyon rimmed by black cliffs, with six waterfalls, including the aptly named Frustration Falls and Vanishing Falls.
