Montenegro

Montenegro is the best-kept secret in Europe. It’s got everything Croatia has without all the American tourists: Mediterranean climate, hiking and boating, nearby seaside towns and ski resorts, and more than 117 beaches.

The town of Budva and the Budva Riviera is one of the more popular travel destinations in the country, but it can get very crowded so avoid July and August―you should still find good weather in off-peak months like April and September.

Shopping in Budva’s Old Town is an experience in high-fashion and boutique stores, but also dig around for high-quality lace work, leather goods and stone work .

If you want to get away from the beach town feel that dots many of Montenegro’s coastal cities, head to Kotor. The town is located along the bay and is a beautiful mix of medieval architecture, walkable squares and plenty of pubs and restaurant with an old-world feel.
