Parking in cities can be a nightmare, especially for out of towners.
But between online resources and some common sense, that process has become a lot easier.
The PrimoSpot app and website is available in New York, Boston and Seattle.
It lets you search for garages and on-street parking, and lists the prices. It even has coupons to help you find a better deal.
With necessity being the mother of invention, now there’s an app called iParked to help you find your way back to your parking spot.
It even has an alarm reminder to refill the meter or move the car.
The city of San Francisco has its own app called SFPark to try to ease congestion. Metered spots and garages have sensors that show up on smartphones when a space opens up.
Other cities are testing a similar sensor technology called Parker.
Of course, common sense goes a long way. Avoid parking near intersections and confirm whether Sundays and holidays mean free street parking.
And remember more and more parking meters will now only accept quarters and credit cards, so keep those handy.
