Route 66 auto courtBefore the advent of the federal highway system, Route 66 was a major artery to the west, running from Chicago’s Navy Pier to Santa Monica’s Pier on the Pacific coast.

But today, you can still take (most of) this historic road, and there are plenty of fun pit stops along the way.
