Locations in this article:  San Diego, CA

Antique PocketwatchWith international travel on the rise and more business being done across different time zones, more fine watch brands are offering models with a multiple or second time zone function.

Here are my favorites based on personal experience. No, I don’t own them all, but I’ve owned some of them and have tried them all.

These aren’t exactly the cheapest watches out there, and prices vary widely by case material, band and where you buy. Discounts are generally available for all but the Rolex and Panerai.

10. Vogard Timezoner
A unique design that displays a single time, but can be easily changed to another time zone by turning the bezel to the preferred city, which moves the hour hand. Has an a.m./p.m. indicator and corrects for daylight savings time. About $6,000; www.vogard.com

9. Ulysse Nardin GMT± Dual Time Big Date
One of the easiest to read and use, this watch, available in a variety of styles. It displays the second time using a 24-hour digital indicator through a second window on the dial. The date is displayed in extra large numbers. About $5,000; www.ulysse-nardin.com

Displays the second time using a 24-hour rotating bezel and a 24-hour hand, advanced using push buttons. This high quality brand is not as well known in the U.S. as in Europe, but the company makes some excellent watches using their own movements. About $5,200; www.glashuette-original.com

7. IWC Spitfire UTC
A rugged sporty stainless steel watch with the second time displayed in an arced window at the lower part of the dial. Special case is designed to shield the movement from magnetic fields. About $4,500; www.iwc.com

6. Jaeger-LeCoultre Geographique
Jaeger Le Coultre, the only brand represented twice on this list has a series of models that displays the time in two dozen cities as well as including a second small 12-hour dial with an a.m./p.m. indicator. There are numerous models varying from sporty to elegant. I found the city dial difficult to read because of the tiny, low contrast letters. $7,000 and up; www.jaeger-lecoultre.com

5. Rolex GMT- Master II
Rolex GMT master One of the most popular models, based on a design created for PanAm pilots in 1955. Uses a 24-hour scale on the rotating bezel and an additional 24-hour hand to display the second time. The rotating bezel lets you easily switch to a third location. Rolex’s latest models use an improved movement and a ceramic bezel with vapor deposited numerals. $6,000 and up; www.rolex.com

4. Panerai Luminor 1950 8 Days GMT
Panerais are one of the hottest brands and this is their top GMT model. This large stainless case and black dial watch uses a second 12-hour hand and a day/night indicator to display the second time zone. It’s hand-wound with an eight-day reserve and has a reserve indicator. About $10,000; www.panerai.com

3. Patek Philippe World Time
Patek World TimeOne of the most elegant models with a renowned movement. Displays the time of 24 cities around the edge of the beautiful and intricate dial. No compensation for daylight savings time. $25,000 and higher; www.patek.com

2. Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Squadra Hometime
The Hometime with black dial uses a red second hour hand that displays the second timezone and has an a.m./p.m. indicator for the second time zone. The case flips over to reveal the movement through a sapphire window; it’s is one of the most unusual of all the watches and one of my favorites. About $7,000; www.jaeger-lecoultre.com

1. A. Lange and Sohne Timezone
This beautifully made German watch with one of the finest movements has a second dial with an a.m./p.m. indicator that displays the second time. $20,000 and higher; www.alange-soehne.com

Of course, if you’re on a budget and still want a watch that displays the time in any city, compensates for daylight savings time, is solar-powered, sets its time to an atomic clock, has a built-in compass, altimeter, barometer, thermometer, alarm and stopwatch, consider Casio’s Model PAW1300T-7V quart digital at $229 in black plastic. www.casio.com
