Travel Tip: Getting School Credit for Traveling

Gulf Shores Alabama Boardwalk & BeachMany college students volunteer at some point during their college career, but did you know that some volunteer abroad programs offer academic credit?

Volunteering abroad offers one of the best opportunities for learning—and now students can get school credit for their travels.

CrossCultural Solutions’ Intern Abroad program gives academic credit for volunteering in the areas of health, education, or social services.

You can choose from 12 countries and 20 program sites, and it offers over 200 start dates throughout the year.

Earthwatch Institute can provide academic credit for college students interested in working with leading scientists, and students will learn about scientific field research.

Global Crossroad offers credit for students who travel abroad for interning, teaching or volunteering, and you will work with orphan children, disadvantaged local residents, and rural women groups.

An additional bonus is that some volunteer programs also allow participation from high school students.
