The Essentials

New European Entry System May Cause Delays

Are you flying to Europe soon? Be prepared for a delay upon arrival. It’s something called the EES — or the European Entry and Exit System. This means no more passport stamps, and hopefully no more lines.

But first, you need to register in the new program at self-service kiosks. Submit fingerprints, have a facial scan taken, and create a biometric travel record. Once this is done, we’re talking e-gates, and no more immigration lines upon arrival.

Not all the kiosks are online. So if you’re flying to Europe and then taking a connecting flight, add another 90 minutes to the connect time so you can properly register.
