Most of us have experienced a flight disruption, a delay, a cancellation, or a diversion because of a safety or medical issue on board.

But what about your rights on a cruise ship disruption?

If your ship cancels a port on the itinerary, keep in mind that the cruise line reserves the right to do that based on weather or “operational issues.” And the cruise line also reserves the right to substitute ports on the itinerary.

And you’re not entitled to a refund. Did you book a shore excursion privately and not through the cruise line?

If your ship bypasses that port, you’re also out of luck on a refund. The same if you booked your airfare independently of the package offered by the cruise line. If your flight is late and you missed the cruise, you have no recourse from the cruise line.
