The Essentials

Easiest and Toughest Cities to Navigate

Helsinki

One of the keys to enjoying a destination is understanding how easy — or difficult — it is to find your way around once you get there. So which are the easiest and hardest cities to navigate? Things like commute times, walking distances, and public transit options.

The most navigable city? Helsinki, in Finland. It’s a great walking city, with well-designed public transport. Followed by Valencia, Spain, where more than 26 percent of the locals choose to walk. Same with Vienna.

Abu Dhabi is not a walking destination, but public transport and inexpensive taxis make the difference.

And the toughest cities to navigate? Delhi, Lima, Bogota, Houston and, not surprisingly, Los Angeles.
