Dog Bite Risks While Traveling

Here’s something you probably never think about when you travel — dog bites.

Whenever I travel, I’m always tempted to pet dogs, but the latest research shows how common dog bites are — 4.5 million people are bitten in the U.S. each year.

Which breeds are the most likely to bite?

It might not surprise you that Pit Bulls cause more bites and injuries than any other breed, followed by Doberman Pinschers and Rottweilers.

But here’s a surprise: Labrador Retrievers come in second place for dog bite incidents. Also, chained dogs bite 2.8 times more often than unchained dogs.

If you’re traveling, you may want to know that the top five states for fatal dog bites are California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.
