Recently, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced new rules that would require airlines to pay cash compensation for flight delays and cancellations. 

The D.O.T. also announced an investigation into major airlines for possible anti-competitive practices. 

But now, there’s a question about the new rules and the investigation: will they survive a new Trump administration, which has already announced a focus on reducing regulations by federal agencies? 

For the moment, the good news for passengers is that the cash compensation rules are still in effect.
