The Essentials
More Americans Are Moving Overseas
More and more Americans, the highest number in history, are making the decision to leave the U.S. and reside overseas.
A combination of factors, from taxes and the cost of living, to available jobs, as well as the standard of living, are contributing to this move.
And for those Americans moving, many are seeking a second passport.
One way to get it is if you already have dual citizenship. But if you don’t have that, you can still get a second passport by marriage, naturalization, meaning you’ve legally resided for required period of time in that country or in some cases by significant investment in the country.
The biggest growth in Americans living overseas: Portugal, Italy, St. Kitts and Nevis, Argentina and, Malta.
