The Essentials
Flying the Queen of the Skies
If you’re an airline or airplane buff, chances are you loved flying the 747, which no U.S. airline still flies.
And the number of airlines still flying them is dwindling.
But if you still want to fly the “queen of the skies”, you can grab a ride on the original jumbo jet.
Lufthansa still flies the 747. Nineteen of them are still in the air on routes to the U.S.
And Korean Air still flies four 747s, on routes to and from Los Angeles and Honolulu.
Elsewhere in Asia, Air China still flies the 747 on routes to and from Los Angeles, New York and Frankfurt.
