What Constitutes a Banned Liquid at TSA Screening Checkpoints
One of the most confusing aspects of airline and airport security is understanding what actually counts as a banned liquid at TSA checkpoints.
A peanut butter and jelly sandwich? A pecan pie? While a can of soda or a bottle of water cannot go through security, large bottles of cologne or moisturizer are also prohibited. However, there are exceptions to the 3-1-1 rule, which refers to 3.4-ounce containers.
Over-the-counter liquid medication is allowed, along with contact lens solution, ice packs used to keep medications cold, fish transported in water, and breast milk. As for that peanut butter and jelly sandwich or the pecan pie, they should be fine to bring through security.
