The Essentials
Best and Worst Airlines for Long-Haul Flights
Long-haul, long distance nonstop flights are often nothing but an endurance test for passengers and crew alike, no matter where you’re sitting on the plane.
But some airlines do a much better job of adjusting to the marathon flights.
In the latest survey, which looked at performance, health, seating, comfort and even the onboard food of 26 airlines, there are some clear winners.
Coming out on top: Singapore Airlines, followed by Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates and Air France.
The airline scoring lowest overall is American Airlines.
And coming soon, the real test. Later this year, Qantas will launch the longest nonstop long-haul flight in the world: Perth to London. Flight length: 22 hours in the air. Time to pack not one, but two pillows and three books.
