The Essentials

Underwater Hotels

Sometimes, the best, or at least the most unusual, accommodations can be found below sea level.

If you’re adventurous, check out the Utter Inn hotel in Sweden.

For about $330 a night, you get a suite 10 feet underwater, where you’ll be surrounded by fish looking in on you.

In China, check out the InterContinental in Shanghai, which has two submerged floors with underwater view suites.

There’s the Manta Resort on Pemba Island near Zanzibar in Tanzania.

You take a boat to your very secluded underwater room.

The nightly rate is about $1,900.

And then, there’s the Conrad on Rangali Island in the Maldives.

It’s a deluxe two level suite submerged more than 16 feet underwater with 360 degree views of ocean life.

Be prepared, as the nightly rate is $10,000.
