Holiday Airfares Drop Significantly
The fourth economic quarter usually features some of the lowest airfares of the year, with two notable and unexpected exceptions: Thanksgiving and Christmas. But this year, holiday airfare, for the moment, is the lowest it’s been since 2022.
And on some routes, Thanksgiving and Christmas fares have dropped as much as 40 percent. The most recent research, which looked at 250 high-volume holiday routes spanning more than 80 airports, reveals that holiday airfares are running an average of 19% lower than 2024.
International fares are down an average of 9%. The most significant price drops on North American routes?
Florida and Mexico, where some Thanksgiving and Christmas roundtrip fares are as low as $98. That’s a 36% drop from holiday ticket fares from 2024. And Orlando fares are also way down. Try Houston to Orlando as low as $38 each way.
