The Essentials
These Airlines Are Bumping the Most (and Least) Passengers
The latest U.S. Department of Transportation numbers are now in, and while we know the summer of 2025 was a crowded one in the skies above America, with every plane almost or actually full, the question is which airline was the most efficient as well as the most common-sensical in managing its passenger loads?
In other words, which airline bumped the most travelers from its flights because of overbooking?
In the industry, it’s called involuntary denied boarding, when an airline literally removes you from a flight on which you are holding a bona fide reservation.
And the numbers might surprise you.
The airline bumping the most folks is Frontier.
And American wasn’t better, booting more than 7,100 passengers for the most recent six-month reporting period.
Want to be surprised? Delta did not involuntarily bump a single passenger. Want to know why? They offer more compensation for those willing to take a later flight!
