Fare Wars Are Coming, and Prices Are Dropping Fast

Get ready for a fall and winter fare war on both domestic and overseas flights.

Why? Foreign travel to the U.S. dropped significantly this past summer, and this fall, it’s already dropped 12.5%.

Delta Air Lines reported Europe was its worst performing sector in 2025. And with fewer folks coming to the U.S., that means more empty seats on flights to Europe.

Already airfares are as low as $169 each way from New York to Rome, or $189 each way from Los Angeles to Paris.

And in the U.S., with Spirit struggling during its second bankruptcy filing in less than a year, competing airlines are flooding the zone on new routes where they compete with Spirit.

Look for much lower fares, as low as $25 each way, on Frontier, United, and JetBlue through the end of the year.
