If you’re a member of an airline frequent flyer program and you’re lucky enough to redeem those hard-earned miles, here’s a little known fact. 

Many programs actually allow you to redeem miles for not only a round trip ticket, but you can also add a free stopover destination. 

If you plan and schedule your flights strategically you get the free stopover. 

The airlines don’t publicize this, and each mileage program is different, but you can often even do a free stopover on a one way award ticket as well, with no additional mileage required. Some programs are more restrictive than others, so you need to ask. 

But it can make a big difference in how you plan, and ultimately enjoy, your trip.
