You already know about the pyramids in Egypt, Yosemite National Park or the Taj Mahal in India, but UNESCO has just announced some surprising new additions to its World Heritage Sites, and they range from Denmark to Mozambique.
How about white sand cliffs in Denmark, which spill into the Baltic, or Port Royal in Jamaica, which dates back to the 17th century.
Sierra Leone has received its first UNESCO World Heritage Site designation.
One caution: some sites are not the easiest to get to but definitely worth it, such as the Flow Country, a 3,500 square mile peat bog in Caithness in Scotland, now added to UNESCO’s protected list of the world’s natural assets.
