The Essentials
Can Apps Really Help You Beat Jet Lag?
Are you affected by jet lag? There are now a number of apps that supposedly help you conquer it.
One is called simply StopJetLag, and for about $78 it gives you advice on sleep, meals to avoid, light, and exercise that you’re supposed to use three days before a trip. FlyKitt is a $99 app that includes blue light blocking glasses. And another called Timeshifter doesn’t charge for your first trip and focuses on melatonin and light exposure.
For me, I don’t use any of these apps.
Instead, I rely on common sense and no advance preparations or jet lag overthink. I simply don’t eat airline food, but I hydrate often on the flight, and never drink alcohol. I don’t take any jet lag medications, and simply stay awake until midnight local time once I land.
