Most Miserable Countries

Every year, reports highlight the world’s happiest countries but what about the most miserable ones? Researchers at Johns Hopkins, using data from the International Monetary Fund and other metrics, ranked 157 countries based on factors like unemployment, inflation, and bank lending practices. Topping the list of misery is Zimbabwe, with a staggering inflation rate of 243%. Other countries joining Zimbabwe on the list include Venezuela, Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan. On the flip side, the least miserable country is Switzerland, followed closely by Ireland, Thailand, and Malta.
