One Stop Security? TSA Is Finally Testing It

You were security screened overseas at your departing airport, and you’re landing at a U.S. airport and connecting to a domestic flight.

Many passengers end up missing those connections because they’re forced to go through security screening again and stand in long lines, when they’ve never left the already cleared real estate of the airport.

Every passenger arriving in the U.S. must clear customs, get bags, recheck the bags and go through security again.

Now the TSA is testing a one stop security program with American, Delta and Virgin Atlantic at both the Atlanta and Dallas Fort Worth airports, and it’s also being tested at London’s Heathrow Airport for passengers connecting from those two U.S. airports.

Passengers don’t have to be cleared, and their luggage transfers automatically. It’s already cut connecting wait times by more than 40 minutes.
