There’s a growing number of small towns around the world, even countries challenged by an aging population or a growing number of abandoned homes, that are now offering great incentives — in some cases, even paying you to move there.
In Ireland, there’s a program that will pay you up to $70,000 to refurbish a house on any one of 30 islands off the coast. Chile has a similar program.
In Croatia, you can purchase some homes for the price of an espresso.
And then there’s Italy, the capital of the one-euro home programs — in many towns along the Adriatic coast, and in Sicily, in places like Sambuca, Cammarata, and even Sardinia.
