Skyscanner analyzed the 40 most popular U.S. airports to determine the 15 best for less expensive flights.

Number one is Fort Lauderdale, where the average seat price is $318, followed by San Jose, California, at $404. Other affordable options include Sacramento, San Antonio, and Ontario, California.

What do these airports have in common? In most cases, they are secondary airports, not major hubs.

Two more examples: In New York, you’ll find better deals at MacArthur Airport in Islip (Long Island) and Stewart Airport in New Windsor.

These airports tend to host more low-cost, budget airlines.
