Airline Dress Codes: What You Need to Know

We’ve all seen stories about passengers being removed from flights for inappropriate dress. But is there an actual airline dress code?

The answer: Not really. In the contract of carriage of every airline, there’s a statement that you can’t fly barefoot or emit a strong body odor.

However, the language remains vague, meaning the term “inappropriate” is up to the interpretation of airport and airline staff.

Only one airline — Hawaiian — specifically prohibits Speedos and bikinis on their planes.

So, if you’re flying with any airline, be mindful of your attire. If an employee deems your outfit inappropriate, you won’t win the argument if you can’t change immediately.

Dress accordingly, and then you can undress when you arrive.
