The Essentials
Low-Cost Airlines Are Looking Like Legacy Carriers?
It’s getting a little confusing out there.
Major legacy US airlines are behaving like low-cost airlines, and now, some low-cost airlines — trying to stay competitive — are suddenly looking like legacy carriers.
Frontier Airlines recently removed ticket change fees.
And now, Spirit Airlines is offering premium options for travelers. In some cases, that could be superior to some legacy airline perks. Options include more spacious seats, snacks and drinks, a better checked baggage deal, no cancellation or ticket change fees, and even a guarantee that the middle seat next to you will be empty.
It remains to be seen if other airlines will match these deals.
