When you book a hotel room online, more often than not you have no control over what type of room you’ll get, or where in the hotel your room will be located — a high floor or a room next to the elevator or noisy ice machine.
In the travel industry, most hotel rooms booked online are called “run of house” rooms — which means that the hotel will unload their least desired rooms first.
Most booking websites don’t allow for personal preferences and that includes early check in or late check out.
If you’re going to book online and all you want is a place to sleep and a bathroom that works, then fine.
My suggestion is at the very least, call the hotel after you book online and have a conversation before you show up at the front desk, and get that “run of house” room.
