It’s the ongoing, unanswered question. When you’re sitting in coach in a row with three seats, who gets the armrest, or armrests? 

Believe it or not, there’s an appropriate armrest etiquette, and a pretty simple solution. The passenger at the window seat gets the armrest next to the window.

The passenger at the aisle seat gets the armrest at the aisle with one caution. 

Beware of the beverage carts and the unlucky passenger stuck in the middle seat, who’s already a victim of the airplane. 

The one in the middle gets a consolation bonus. He or she gets both armrests.

It’s the least the aisle and window passengers can do.
