The Essentials

Self Check-In Test at Harry Reid International Airport

You’ll find self check-out at many food and convenience stores.

But now, a test program at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas offers a self check-in program at TSA security lines.

Instead of scanning groceries, you’ll scan your ID and your luggage, and then walk into a special portal to be screened.

There are automatic entry and exit doors.

If there’s a problem, a video on screen will show you the questionable item and where it needs to be removed.

And there’s an adjacent machine to scan cell phones, car keys and other metallic items.

This could end the requirement to remove electronics or liquids from your bags.
