When we talk about high airfares, we don’t often relate them to particular airports.

But in the US, some airports are much more expensive to fly out of than others.

So, which is the most expensive American airport to leave from?

That would be Dulles in Washington DC. The average domestic flight there costs more than $494. The relative bargain airport is nearby Baltimore.

San Francisco was the number two most expensive airport in the US to fly from, followed by Charlotte.

And the least expensive US airport to leave from is Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, with an average domestic flight cost of just $264. Other relative bargains are Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, but not Miami.
