Many airlines are now preparing for what they forecast as even a busier air traffic summer than 2023.

And, as a result, they’ve announced new domestic routes — not to the usual suspect destinations but nonstop flights to secondary cities around America and a growing number overseas.

American Airlines will offer a daily flight between Miami and John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California.

United Airlines has announced that, starting in late May the airline will fly daily between Washington DC and Anchorage, Alaska, through mid-September.

And Alaska Airlines is about to fly daily between Atlanta and San Diego.

Overseas, look at United to start new service to the South Pacific. United has already become the largest transatlantic carrier in the world.
