The Essentials

Gate Passes for Parents at Airports

One of the challenges of having your children fly unaccompanied is being able to take them all the way to the gate to make sure they depart or greeting them at the arrival gates when they return.

But a number of airports now allow parents or guardians without a plane ticket to pass.

Philadelphia’s airport allows it. Orlando International Airport does too.

The Seattle airport visitor pass has been around since 2018.

Other airports that allow it include New Orleans, Detroit, Orange County, and Tulsa.

One caution is that many airports limit the number of gate passes they can issue in any one day. So always check ahead.
