The Essentials

Free International Local Transportation

I’ve always said the real key to affordable travel is knowing that it’s not just the cost of getting somewhere, but the cost of being there once you arrive.

If you’re traveling overseas, there’s some good news. A number of cities and even an entire country will let you travel without paying for local transportation.

Are you going to Melbourne? In this Australian city, all tram rides are free.

In Amsterdam, all the ferries from the central train station are free.

In Spain, most regular train travel is free for the rest of this year.

And, if you’re going to Luxembourg, you’ll be happy to know the country has abolished fares for all public transport for a number of years now.
