It’s one thing to say the flight has arrived on time.
But how much time does it actually take you to get off your plane?
The other day, I took out my stopwatch as passengers deplaned — or tried to — from a full Boeing 737 Max. The average time it took passengers to actually leave the plane was a frustrating 23 minutes.
And this might explain why so many passengers miss their flight connections, even if their first flight lands as scheduled. The takeaway here is that when booking an itinerary that includes a connecting flight, give yourself at least two hours between flights.
With some connection times listed as a legal 33 minutes, that’s hardly realistic given how long it takes just to get off the first flight.
So always build in that two hour buffer.
