The Essentials

Etias Explained

Earlier this year, the European community announced something called Etias, which would then add more bureaucracy to your trip overseas and requires U.S. travelers to secure electronic entry approval before departing on a flight.

What this means is you’re essentially getting a visa to enter the region.

The United Kingdom also announced plans for a similar requirement.

But like other government programs, like the U.S. “Real ID” requirement on driver’s licenses, it now won’t be activated for at least another year.

And the UK program has also been delayed.

So, for the moment, there is no visa needed to visit any European community country or the UK. But stay tuned.
