While many lighthouses around the world have been retired, a number have been converted to lodging spaces where you can stay overnight.
In Cutler, Maine, you can sleep over in the Little River Lighthouse in the Keeper’s Quarters for about $225. And part of the fun is you have to take a boat to get there.
Then, there’s the Big Bay Point Lighthouse in Big Bay, Michigan, now a bed and breakfast, that even offers massages. Rates start around $160 a night.
Want a lighthouse upgrade?
Consider the East Brother Light Station in Point Richmond, California. The lighthouse now serves champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and a multi-course dinner for guests staying in the lighthouse. Rates start at $475 a night. And for these accommodations, they’ll literally keep the light on for you.
