Drops in Currency Value Can Benefit U.S. Travelers

This is the year of great and more affordable travel, if you’re paying with U.S. dollars.

The euro is almost on a par with the U.S. dollar, and the Japanese yen and British pound have also dropped historic lows against the dollar.

 

Smart travelers are heading overseas to take advantage of the buyer’s market. In fact, credit and debit card spending by Americans overseas is now up 29% over 2019.

 

While many airfares to foreign countries are now higher, the cost for basic goods and services overseas, ranging from a taxi ride to a restaurant dinner, from clothing and other retail purchases to basics like toothpaste or a train ticket, have made foreign trips true bargains.
