As travel resumes with a vengeance, many hotels are still operating with severely reduced staff numbers.

And the hardest hit is housekeeping, where in normal times maids have to clean about 14 rooms per shift.

It’s hard work, and even harder when the staff numbers drop. Here are a few things you can do to help out those hardworking housekeepers.

Leave your bed unmade so it is easier to strip and put all your towels in one place. You should also pour out any liquid from bottles before throwing them out or recycling them.

And leave the curtains open so the staff has some light when they come in.
