The Essentials

Olympic Sites to Visit

It’s official: There are no stadium spectators for any of the Olympic Games in Japan.

But it just might be the perfect time to visit other past Olympic sites.

There’s Lake Placid in New York. It claims to be an interactive city, where you can see where both the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Games were played, including the 1980 “Miracle on Ice.”

Park City, Utah, offers still active venues from several different events from the Salt Lake games in 2002 and also has an accompanying town to ski.

Atlanta, Georgia, has Centennial Park, with an audio tour included as well.

Many of these sites offer active participatory options on the same courses and routes where the real competition happened — including tobogganing in Utah.
